6 Years of Sly ecommerce
It’s been 6 years since Sly was founded, and what an incredible journey it has been for us! For the past 6 years since it started, Sly has grown constantly and has expanded its client base. Our goal has always been to provide the best ecommerce solutions that are easy to use, secure and cost-effective. With our state-of-the art architecture, we make it easy for B2B businesses to build their online stores quickly and efficiently.
In 2022 we made two major improvements: First, converting from GmbH (company with limited liability) to AG (shares corporation), which allowed us to expand our reach and open up new opportunities for further growth. And second we moved to a larger office which can accommodate our growing team. Our team of experts has also worked hard to improve the features of our products to make them more reliable and to ensure they are optimally suited to the requirements of our customers.
After focusing mainly on engineering in the first five years, we’ve expanded our team in the direction of consulting, process management and digitalisation. With two new hires we have made in the last year, and with the great growth of our IT network TecHUB Swiss, our customers can benefit from our combined knowhow.
THE OPEN-SOURCE HEADLESS ECOMMERCE FOUNDATION
In VELOX we invested a lot in the improvement of the infrastructure and the maturity of the overall project. Therefore we improved the kubernetes hosting together with our partner firm www.copebit.ch. In addition we decided to follow semantic versioning and semantic releases for our microservices.
To ensure a high security standard, we implemented Gitlab SAST on our backend services to do the security checks directly on the pipelines.
One of the largest features we implemented in 2022, was an integration into Magnolia CMS. We want to make it even easier for our clients to get started with their shop and have therefore decided to provide this integration as another accelerator.

We are committed to improving our services to meet the needs of our customers. We noticed that the Sly Connect algorithm could be improved, so we worked hard to find new approaches to make it even better. To resolve the issue regarding page wrapping within one product, we introduced the concept of “row”, meaning that fields (e.g. Quantity or Article Reference) which are related to an article number, must be positioned in the same row as the related Article Number.
Furthermore, we made custom fields fully customizable to allow customers to define which values they want to extract on the PDF orders. This provides greater flexibility and expands the potential application of Sly Connect into all kinds of business domains.
As we look back on our 6th year journey, we are proud of what we have achieved and excited for what the future holds. We want to thank our team and all our customers who have supported us and helped us grow our ecommerce business.
